Â
Park your car and engage the hand brake to ensure safety and also ensure the car is sturdy. Make sure to park your car in a well-lit area so that during the installation you are provided with sufficient lighting.
Â
Â
The most preferred place to install the dash cam is behind the rearview mirror in the Ford vehicles Just like shown in the image below.
Â
Take out the fuse box cables from the package and then connect the power cable to the dashcam’s red and yellow wire interface. The Mercylion G376 dash cam only has 1 power cable that comes out of it which is the Red and Yellow cable the white cable cannot be used anywhere as it is for factory test purposes only. Make sure the connectors are securely connected and are not left loose, which ensures they don't disconnect while driving.
The next step in installing the Mercylion G376 dash cam is to route the hard wire cables to the fuse box which is located below the glove compartment of the Ford Focus. The fuse box location of every vehicle is different, so please make sure to read your vehicle's user manual and find the right fuse box location for your car. This will ensure that the dash cam can receive constant power. Firstly route the cables along the windshield which is very easy and the cables slide into the spaces very easily without the help of any tools.
Fuse box locations for Ford F-150, F-250, F-350 and the Ford Raptor are located below the glove compartment beside the passenger foot wall trim cover.
Route the cables down from the A-pillar which is connected to the windshield and go down straight towards the compartment area. The A-pillar Weather seals or weather strips which are the rubber part of the pillar come out very easily and help in guiding the cables down. These Weather seals also ensure that the cables are snuggled properly and are safe from any cut while the door closes.
This step is one of the most crucial steps, we need to identify the right fuse slot and then connect the yellow and red wires in that slot. The slots we are looking for are the constant power slot and the ACC socket. The constant power slot ensures that the power is being sent to the dashcam even after the car is turned off and the ACC slot makes sure the automatically turn the dashcam on or power off when the engine is on or off. To identify the right socket we will use a multimeter.
Turn the car off and check for the slot that delivers a constant 12.4V, when you find this slot this means it's the constant power fuse slot and this will be used to connect the Yellow wire. For the next step, we will look for the ACC slot, the voltage for ACC is about 14.5V when is car is started and the voltage is automatically turned off after the car is turned off. This ACC slot will hold the Red wire in place to ensure automatic turn off and on of the dashcam. Now connect both the cables into their desired slots, Yellow to the constant power slot 12.4V and Red wire to the ACC slot which provides 14.5V with the engine on. Also, make sure to also put back the fuse you took out while identifying the proper slots. Lastly, the black wire is the ground cable and is connected to any bolt nearby or metal part of the car body. Make sure the bolt or the surface you connect the black wire to is directly connected to the vehicle's metal body this will ensure a proper grounding of the Dashcam.
Due to the grounding point located very deep within the vehicle, we were unable to capture a clear image of it. As a result the grounding image is not included in this guide, please identify an appropriate grounding point based on your specific vehicle model and ensure the black cable is properly connected to the ground point.
Â
One of the last steps to ensure a clean installation is to fix the cables by using a zip tie and ensuring no cables are hanging down. This will ensure that the cables are not stretched accidentally by the passengers.
Â
Following these steps will ensure the smooth functioning of the Mercylion G376 dashcam and ensure the safety of your vehicle and yourself while driving or while your car waits in the parking lot for you.
